Behold Him

About this same time last year, I talked about the importance of taking a rest, as I enjoyed my family time on vacation. This year, my post will be short and sweet again, as I just returned home from vacation, but wanted to drop a quick thought for this week.

Rest is so important. As a matter of fact, God degreed every 7th day to be a Sabbath- A time of rest. But those days aren’t meant to just “veg” out and lay like a sloth by the pool. (Although that does sound wonderful) They are meant to turn your thoughts and heart toward the One who knit you together in your mother’s womb.

It should be a time of turning our gaze to the face of our Lord and Savior. Spend time in communion with Him and remember His goodness and blessings. We have so much to be thankful for.

So this week I encourage you to get outside, breathe in the fresh air and behold Him. Some of my closest moments with Christ happens when I experience His creation. This is what I did last week with my family. It was refreshing and encouraging to my soul.

Behold Him as you listen to the waves crash on the shore. The God of the universe commands them to go no further and He knows every creature that swims within.

Behold Him in every beautiful plant, flower and tree. All creation sings the glory of the Creator.

Behold Him as you watch the animals scurry about, busy in their work or ones enjoying the warmth of the sun on their backs. They do not worry or fret, for they know Who provides for their every need.

Behold Him as the sun sets and the lights dim in the heavens above. He has named every star, planet and galaxy. They all declare His greatness and majesty.

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens.

Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His greatness.

Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with harp and lyre.

Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; praise Him with stringed instruments and flute.

Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with loud cymbals.

Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150)
